t-shirt

I ordered this t-shirt the other day...it reminds me of Brussels - If you can't tell it is a girl with an umbrella during a rainy windy day.

Koln

Monday I went to Koln Germany and found this awesome bracelet.  It is made out of a spoon and I googled the name on the inside and it is from a hotel that use to be there.  The girl selling them had necklaces, bracelets and earings all made out of silverware.  My shopping partner got a necklace made out of an antique tong - you one of the sides you use to pick something up with.  I was thinking of getting it but was in love with my bracelet.  They even had some with monograms on them. (spoons braclets)

With the big flat silver front I feel like I have on a wonder woman bracelet

Main reason I got it...it said Koln

dog

This is a reason I don't have a white dog...I would dye it colors and I'm not kidding.  In college I colored my hamster with markers.

I'm looking for a friend for foxy now that we are moving back to the US so if you could keep your eye and ears open that would be great.

Neighbor

Every year my neighbor sets up her house to sell goods that she designs and sells from India. India is her home country even thought she is an American from Chicago.  During grad school she met her husband a Scottish man raised in Paris.  Anyway I got this bag this year.

Mon Amie Louis

Don't get excited I did not get another purse just a refill for my planner.  I did look at the purse I want but Brussels is so expensive it is 100 euros more here then and France.  We will see maybe I can sell some blood or something.  Joe thinks that 2 purses is enough...you can never have enough Louis.  (ps honey how many bikes do you have?) Not to mention when we move back to the US there is no way I could get one there.

Greek Baubles

Here is my finds from Greece.  On our way to dinner on Saturday night a cute old man was selling jewelry that he made on the street under a street light on a card table with a satin table cloth. (he was setting up at 8:00 at night)

One is Rose quarts the other is turquoise.  We got a bargain on them...it would have been 10 times the price in the US.

magazine

I got my new Town and Country magazine and noticed this page of Greek goods.  The funny thing is that I didn't buy any of the evil eye stuff but now I wish I did now.

But now i can pick one up in LA :)

Shopping in Prague

Last weekend I went to Prague. I was very excited about the shopping and vintage stores I would encounter. Let’s just say I was very disappointed in what I saw. We walked allover the city and I could not find any area or store that had cute, unique and special Czech items.

Finally on Sunday just walking by a market I saw La Femme MiMi. It was what I was looking for all weekend. Check out the web site at www.lafemmemimi.cz

Inside view of the wallet-silk lining with embroidery
The outside of the wallet- all hand made and embroiderd. I will use it as a clutch way to funky to be in a purse.

Then on our way back to the hotel to get our luggage we just walked in to a china shop and discover they had a small case of jewelry. I again was in heaven knowing that these were hand made treasures from Prague.

Foxy getting in the way of my photography
Glass black beads sewn together on a double chain.
the refelction shows a blue purplish tint but they are not like that - just black with no other colors.

chicago shops

Here are some resale shops in Chicago check them out when you can - thanks to redeye for the list.

Pistol Bazaar
1717 W. Chicago Ave.
In addition to the tons of clothes and accessories from the '50s through the '80s, the store features unconventional fixtures, like a mannequin in a bathtub covered with handbags, and a photo booth.

Haystack
2934 N. Broadway
This vintage resale boutique has bikes hanging from the ceiling, pastel-colored vintage phones and TVs, and display cases packed with costume jewelry and an entertaining collection of salt and pepper shakers. Much more edited than a Salvation Army, the stock is displayed in a thoughtful, boutique-like way.

Threads, Etc.
2327 N. Milwaukee Ave.
This furniture consignment shop helps you sell your furniture so you don't have to sit at home waiting for Craigslist customers. It splits the sale with you 50-50 (or 60-40 if they have to pick up the piece from your house). Good-quality furniture at reasonable prices (no Ikea stuff), and really cheap clothes.

Clothes Optional
2918 N. Clark St.
This vintage shop focuses on '60s- and '70s-era clothes, housewares and accessories. It offers tons of old T-shirts arranged by color, so it's like a giant color wheel of cotton. It also has a large collection of owls.

A Secret Closet
4617 N. Lincoln Ave.
This shop has a great jewelry selection (all new and many pieces made by local designers) at great prices, and a good selection of used and vintage clothes (with some new items mixed in), always reasonably priced. There also are lots of cool purses, scarves, hats and gloves. And the owner is so friendly.

White Elephant
2380 N. Lincoln Ave.
It has good furniture and clothes (designer a lot of times), and sales go to Children's Memorial Hospital.

Buffalo Exchange
2875 N. Broadway
Found a sleeveless black dress and a soft gray T-shirt with the skyline and words "The Best Girls are from Chicago" here, which together totaled less than $25. Definitely worth the money.

Plato's Closet
2150 N. Clybourn Ave.
The store buys and sells clothes that are current and slightly worn (think Abercrombie, Bebe, Forever 21, Steve Madden). It often has clothes with the original tags still on them. Targeted at teens, but so what?

Saks sale

Badgley Mischka Suit, skirt and blouse

Last week Sak's had a huge sale 40% or more off sale.  I saw this suit and thought one day I may have to get a job. I will need a kick ass suit.  I think this might just do the job.

copy cat

So I look at this blog about bikes in denmark.  I saw this photo that I loved and copied it - Meaning I wanted to take the same photo then frame it for Joe cause i thought he would like it for a present.

Well he saw the copy photo in our photos folder then saw the blog and was all grumpy that I was up to something. This is after I almost killed myself trying to take the photo. Any way here is the photo I took.  Yes it really is me.

No you know why i almost died taking this photo...High heels + cobbles + bike + operating a camera = major trouble.  I asked Joe if he could hold the bike while I take the photo to get a better on but I don't think that will happen.

The photo on the top of my blog was taken in the major rain we had a couple of Sunday's ago.  We were walking down the street and I saw the huge puddle.  I thought it would be a perfect photo for something.  Joe was like what are you doing.

Bienvenue!

Welcome to my blog.  I thought I needed a blog all to myself to write about Fashion and other girly stuff that my husband is not intersted in.  I will keep posting as much as my creative juices allow.

Hope you enjoy it and come back soon.

Chanel

What a great idea! This photo is from fashion week in Paris last week. I love the two skirts on the left of the photo.

Mr. Lagerfeld had the idea to recreate a full-size facade of 31, rue Cambon inside the Grand Palais — and not only the building but also the street, complete with curbs. The models left the maison and hit the street. There was even the suggestion that four models strolling out together in mini knit dresses and fancy net hats might be representing the hooker element. If you’ve lived in Paris, and around fashion, as long as Mr. Lagerfeld has, you wouldn’t judge women that harshly. (from NY Times Oct. 3)

Last July when I was in Paris, my husband and I had lunch at a cafe across from Chanel. We could see our reflection in the Chanel window. We took a photo of the window with our reflection in it. (how ever that photo is on our computer that died and still needs to be recovered.)
